Pelmeni

(Russian stuffed dumplings)

Pelmeni are small, flavorful Russian dumplings that are beloved worldwide. These little delights are filled with a delightful combination of meat, onion, and spices. With simple steps, you can create these delicious dumplings and enjoy an authentic Russian taste experience.

Pierogi

Preperation:

1. Start by making the dough for the dumplings. In a bowl, combine 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour with a pinch of salt.
2. Add 1 ¼ cups of water and 1 egg to the flour mixture.
3. Knead the dough until it becomes soft and elastic. Adjust with more flour or water if needed to achieve the right consistency.
4. Let the dough rest for about 30 minutes under a towel to relax and develop its structure.

Ingredients:

– 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
– A pinch of salt
– 1 ¼ cups water
– 1 egg
– 500 grams ground meat (such as a mixture of meats or beef)
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking:

Serving tips:

Traditionally, pelmeni is served with a dollop of butter and a spoonful of sour cream. You can also serve them with a side salad or pickled vegetables to balance the flavors. If you like, you can even try serving pelmeni with a light tomato-based sauce or lightly frying them in butter to give them a crispy texture.
Enjoy these flavorful and satisfying Russian dumplings!
